VOLUNTEER PRESENTERS

We are lucky to have enthusiastic members who volunteer to help run Phoenix FM. Welcome to all our new members who volunteered to present programs during our 2008 test broadcast period.

All of our volunteer presenters are members of CVCB, trading as Phoenix FM. They are familiar with and enthusiastic about our aims and objectives, which encourage active community involvement.

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer presenter?

We are looking forward to continuing as a community radio station after our initial trial broadcast period. Being a community based radio station, Phoenix FM is developing a wide range of programs reflecting the broad community in Central Victoria. They include a wide range of musics not generally available on local radio stations. We will always be interested in programs of all styles and for all age groups, and wish to promote local music including live broadcasts. We also welcome people interested, for example, general current affairs and local news, sports, the arts, religion and spirituality, youth issues, environmental, political and social issues, health, science and technology, ethnic and indigenous issues, minority groups, student issues, disability, and other community access issues, talk-back etc. Previous experience is not necessary as presenters will be trained.

To become a presenter.

  1. Presenters are expected to become financial members of the station.
  2. If you want to be involved on air or otherwise, but do not have a specific program in mind, you may wish to contribute in other ways (such as production, admin etc).
  3. Come to one of our regular Volunteers Meetings and ask to be put in contact with the programming committee.

First Outside Broadcast
Our first outside broadcast was a call of the Bendigo Pioneers game from Country Vet Oval, Golden Square. We had brilliant equipment, brilliantly installed by Peter, three footy callers who work superbly together as a team, and Brad anchoring beautifully back at studio headquarters. By any standards, this was an outstanding success and something which made community radio history in Bendigo.

Trivia Night
Everyone had a fun night, whether thy came first or last!
Most people went home with at least one prize, some with many more than that. The 8 grab bags full of goodies donated along with numerous other prizes by the 'Faggots and Dykes' group, valued between $20 and $30 were a hit!
The Heads and Tails competition had a wonderful prize of a 50 litre Fuel Voucher donated by Mobil Streamlined Pantry in Quarry Hill. The Lucky Door prize of a Basket of Beauty Products valued at $70, donated by Kirsten McKinley, was won by 'Bill' who I'm sure will share with the lady in his life.
Special thanks to all the individuals who donated prizes, believe me, the people who won them, loved them.
Also special thanks to Mark Hecker (of the Chrysler club) who stepped in at short notice to compere the night. Mark you are a natural!
Thanks to Sue and Leighton Rawlings.
